Who I Am
Hi, I’m Ngoc Dang, a nursing student, medical writer, and lifelong learner with a heart for storytelling and a mind drawn to the science of healing. I write because I believe that health information shouldn’t just live in textbooks or journals. It should live in people’s hands, minds, and choices.
What I Care About
My interests span across mental health, digital health innovations, patient advocacy, trauma-informed care, and the subtle ways that language can shape healing. I’m especially passionate about exploring how technology can support, not replace, the human touch in healthcare. As someone who walks the hospital halls by day and writes by night, I try to bring both clinical insight and emotional nuance to everything I create.
Why I Write
Whether I’m unpacking the science behind a diagnosis or amplifying the quiet strength of patients and providers, I aim to write with clarity, compassion, and a dash of curiosity. Thanks for reading. I’m honored to be part of your learning journey.
A Lesson from Tom and Jerry
I also grew up loving Tom and Jerry, especially the gentle chaos of Jerry and the wide-eyed charm of Nibbles. It might sound unusual, but these two characters have always reminded me of what it means to be a nurse. Like Jerry, nurses often work behind the scenes, quietly navigating complex situations with cleverness, resourcefulness, and a deep sense of care. He may be small, but Jerry constantly outsmarts challenges far bigger than himself, often not for his own gain but to protect or help someone else, like when he shields Nibbles from danger or shares his cheese.
Nibbles, on the other hand, is all wide-eyed wonder, endlessly curious, always getting into trouble but learning along the way. He reminds me of myself as a student nurse, eager, sometimes overwhelmed, but driven by love and a desire to do good. In one of my favorite scenes, Jerry disguises himself as a baby to comfort a crying Nibbles, holding him close and making him laugh. That tiny moment, filled with tenderness and play, mirrors the kind of quiet, compassionate connection I hope to bring to every patient I care for.
These stories, though simple on the surface, have taught me a lot about kindness, persistence, and the joy of learning. They remind me that even in the most chaotic moments, there is room for laughter, heart, and a little bit of magic, much like in nursing itself.
