Prescription Waste Ends Here
Every year, billions of dollars worth of prescription medication are thrown away—often unopened, unexpired, and still perfectly usable. While these medications end up in landfills or incinerators, patients across the country are going without life-saving treatments simply because they can’t afford them.
The MedReport Foundation is proud to partner with RemediChain, a pharmacist-led nonprofit working to close this gap. Through their safe and legal donation system, RemediChain collects unused medications and redistributes them to vulnerable patients who need them most.
Why might patients have extra medications?
Many common and legitimate reasons can result in extra medications! Treatment plans might change, duplications might occur during care transitions, a patient may pass away, or a recovery may occur faster than expected.
Why does this matter?
1 in 4 Americans struggles to afford their prescriptions. Meanwhile, millions of unused medications are destroyed every year.
Is this process safe and legal?
Yes! RemediChain is run by licensed pharmacists and fully compliant with state and federal laws governing prescription reuse. Medications must be unopened, unexpired, and in original packaging. Controlled or refrigerated medications are not eligible for reuse.
